  1. Standard versions contain the band's four studio albums (The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead and Strangeways, Here We Come), a live album and three compilations (Hatful of Hollow, The World Won't Listen and Louder Than Bombs), on 8 CDs or 8 LPs. A deluxe version contains the albums on both CD and LP formats, as well as 25 7-inch vinyl singles and a DVD.
  2. “Asleep” tells of the narrator’s desire to die. In his pain and sorrow, he wishes to be comforted as he drifts peacefully into death. The song was originally released as the b-side for the single.
  3. The album was released on 20 February , and debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. "This Charming Man" was included as the sixth track on all original US releases of the album on Sire Records (LP, CD and cassette) and on the UK cassette on Rough Trade.
  4. Great cd, great collection of songs from a very good band. the songs do sound loud and more crisp compared to earlier compilations that had far less tracks on. If your going to buy one smiths cd then it should be this one. I won't go into all the different songs I will just say this has all /5().

  7. General CommentJeane is almost impossible to get hold of (I think it's going to be on a double-cd compilation released soon), which is a disgrace because for me it is right up with their best work. It's just an incredibly powerful song and perfectly sums up the 'mythology' of the Smiths - listening to it you genuinely feel that this was what Morrissey's life was like before the start of the band.
  8. Jeane The low-life has lost its appeal And I'm tired of walking these streets To a room with a cupboard bare Jeane I'm not sure what happiness means But I look in your eyes And I know that it isn't there We tried, we failed We tried, and we failed We tried, and we.
  9. One of The Smiths’ starkest tracks, ‘Asleep’ lingers somewhere between the dream world and death. Xiu Xiu swap the original’s piano for subtle guitar, but the effect is the same. You feel dragged off into a daze, a drowsy haze with Jamie Stewart’s voice as the only glimpse of light in a dark, dark world – a salute from one outsider.
